The rain did not keep Derry and Belfast from finishing their game.

Belfast second baseman Justino Santana had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Santana was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, even as Derry beat the Bards, 8-7. The Maidens improved to 58-54.

In the bottom of the sixth, Derry right fielder Colman O'Mhaille gave his team the lead. With one out and the bases loaded, Cy hit his 17th double of the year. Belfast pitcher Gannon Atwood surrendered it. With that, the Maidens jumped in front, 7-6.

"We found a way to get it done," O'Mhaille said.
