Medicine Hat Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
When the stakes were high, Dougalasa Kolet raised his game to match.
The left-handed Kolet turned in a stellar performance in Game 2 of the League Championship Series, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Medicine Hat Hellfire to victory. He allowed 4 hits and struck out 6. The win gave Medicine Hat a 2-0 lead over the Calgary Chargers in the best-of-7 series.
Kolet, a native of Lelu, Micronesia, was dealing all game. He kept Calgary hitters off-balance, while giving the Hellfire 9 quality innings. Kolet threw 137 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6.
"Dougalasa was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Medicine Hat manager Teobaldo Macías.
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 24th , 1914 at Chargers Grounds in Calgary.
