Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Trois-Rivieres Trifluviens and Moncton Magnets.
The Trois-Rivieres Trifluviens defeated the Moncton Magnets, 9-4, at Ballpark of Trois-Rivieres. Leading the charge for Trois-Rivieres was left fielder Modesto Esparza. He went 1-1 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Trois-Rivieres reliever Alberto López snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jim Bernard shouldered the loss. Harmon Beck got credit for the save for Trois-Rivieres. It was his 2nd of the year.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Pablo Viguería had a game-changing hit. The Trifluviens first baseman slammed a 2-run single off Rafael Macías, making the score 7-4, Trois-Rivieres.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Viguería.
The win takes Trois-Rivieres to 6-5.
