Tavárez Sends Oceania Bats to Deep Freeze
Thursday, December 27th , 1906
It was not a good day at the plate for the Oceania Neptunes. They came up empty when it mattered against Mexico Tricolores right-hander Senén Tavárez, who scattered 5 hits across 9 innings and held the Neptunes scoreless.
"We had 5 hits so I know he wasn't completely untouchable, but he was close," Oceania manager Scrappy Carroll said later.
Tavárez chalked up 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 6-0 Tricolores win.
