González Pitches Elefantes to Shutout Victory Wednesday, August 26th , 1914 Everything clicked on the hill for Hermógenes González, as he hurled the Cienfuegos Elefantes to a shutout win, 9-0, over the Habana Leones, limiting them to 4 hits while recording 2 strikeouts and yielding 3 walks. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches. "We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Leones manager Luis González said. "We just weren't able to get to him." This season, González has a 6-8 mark in 19 starts with a 2.66 ERA. He has given up 142 hits in 145.2 innings, struck out 43 and issued 41 walks.
