Mendoza Makes it Official, Will Retire Friday, September 4th , 1914 The Camaguey Tinajones will have to find a new left fielder next year as veteran Tomás Mendoza is set to retire at the end of the 1914 campaign. Mendoza, age 38, is ready for retirement. "Time takes its toll on this old body. I can't do it as well as I want anymore. It's time to hang up the spikes and make way for a younger guy." For his 790-game career Mendoza has hit .254 with 426 hits, 167 RBIs, and 2 home runs. |
