Matthew Smith, the Durango Alacranes 24-year-old center fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Norte Player of the Week honors. He ripped 12 hits in 24 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with no home runs and 3 RBIs. Thus far this season, Smith has hit .290 with no home runs, 47 RBIs and scored 53 times. |
