Carranza Hurls Bishops to Shutout Victory Thursday, July 16th , 1914 Ramón Carranza was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Bangor Bishops hurler tossed a 5-hit, complete game shutout against the Swansea Copper Lords. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Carranza. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Carranza walked 1 and struck out 5 in the 4-0 victory. Carranza has a 17-6 season record so far.
