5-for-5 Day for Vázquez Tuesday, September 8th , 1914 After a 5-hit effort to lead Sudbury's 6-3 victory over the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants, first baseman Roberto Vázquez told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Royal Canadian Baseball League-level is really something special." The 23-year-old player earned his accolades at Thunder Bay Grounds with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Sleeping Giants. "His swing is getting there," said Meteors skipper Enrique Torres, who spoke glowingly of Vázquez after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Roberto did that to perfection." Roberto Vázquez doubled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
