Sandoval Goes 5-for-7 Thursday, July 23rd , 1914 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Ubaldo Sandoval said his club's tilt with the Beaumont Alpinists "felt almost like batting practice." The 21-year-old center fielder went a remarkable 5-for-7 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Nacogdoches Roaches, who were topped by the Alpinists, 5-2. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Roaches manager Miguel Espinosa said. "Sometimes Ubaldo is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-7 and lose than go 0-for-7 and lose." Ubaldo Sandoval hit a solo-shot off Carl Ginty in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 10th, hit an RBI single in the 11th and doubled in the 14th.
