García Shines in 7-0 Gem Thursday, July 9th , 1914 Gabriel García hurled a fine game for the Brattleboro Melodeons at The Pit, holding the Rutland Quarrymen to 2 hits in a shutout win. "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Brattleboro manager Larry Manley said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is." The right-hander had 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 7-0 victory. "An outstanding job," Rutland manager Theodore Conover said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game." This season, García has rung up 8 wins and 7 losses in 21 games.
