Galván at His Best, Blanks Derry Sunday, August 2nd , 1914 The Manchester Gamblers did little to support starter Hipólito Galván against the Derry Spuds, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Spuds, striking out 2 and surrendering 6 hits. The performance from Galván allowed Manchester to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense. "Nobody came to me and said, 'Hipólito, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Galván told BNN reporters following the win.
