Southern New England Association Names #1 Manager Monday, September 28th , 1914 A baseball manager's success usually depends on the talent of his club, but in the case of Roberto Ortiz, he seems to have taken the Winchendon Rocking Horses to a higher level and gotten his just due. He was named this season's Manager of the Year in the Southern New England Association for leading the team to a very rewarding season. "Everyone on the team put in a lot of hard work this season," he told reporters. "It's always nice when it's acknowledged in some way." Ortiz led Winchendon to a first place finish in the Southern New England Association Massachusetts Circuit. The Rocking Horses ended up with a 78-54 record. |
