Commodores Capture Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie
Thursday, September 3rd , 1914
The city of Erie is buzzing tonight as their hometown club has captured a division title.
The Erie Commodores officially laid claim to the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie crown today and will now turn attention to preparing for a run at the franchise's 2nd Championship of the Great Lakes.
"We may have been far ahead in the standings, but you never take anything for granted until it's official," said starting pitcher Pol Brennan. "I've seen too many strange things happen in baseball to ever assume the playoffs is a guarantee."
But it now is in fact a guarantee for the club, which currently has a 80-38 record and has easily stood out as the class of the division this season.
