Martín Slaps 5 Hits Wednesday, September 9th , 1914 It was a great day at the plate for Gastón Martín. For his Mayaguez Alfereces, the day was not nearly as good. The left fielder collected 5 hits in 5 tries, but his club still came up short in the win column. The Aguada Catecumenes snatched the victory, topping the Alfereces by a score of 13-9. "Well that wasn't how it was supposed to end," Martín said later. "I'll just have to do it again and get it right." Gastón Martín singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Rafael Gómez in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Rafael Gómez in the 6th, walked in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
