Castañeda Stops Rio Grande Cold, Chiringas Win, 2-0 Friday, September 11th , 1914 Everything clicked on the hill for Hipólito Castañeda, as he hurled the Juncos Chiringas to a shutout win, 2-0, over the Rio Grande Zarzas, limiting them to 8 hits while recording 4 strikeouts and yielding 1 walk. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches. "We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Zarzas manager Ed Somerville said.
