Mendoza Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Sunday, September 20th , 1914 The number just keeps getting higher. Cayey first baseman Samuel Mendoza has now extended his hitting string to 20 games. He did it today with 2 hits in 2 at-bats as the Cayey won the game, 4-3, over the Patillas Panaderos at Parquecito de Cayey. "Who knows how long it will go on?" Patillas manager Maury Pierce said. "He's certainly tough to pitch to right now." Samuel Mendoza singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd and grounded out in the 5th. Batting .326 to date, Mendoza has 4 home runs and 16 RBIs. |
