Caraveo Shines in 2-0 Gem Saturday, July 4th , 1914 Aquiles Caraveo kept the Takasaki Sakura hitters from doing much damage at Sakura Park. Takasaki could only muster 4 hits and draw 1 walk against the right-handed Caraveo, who controlled them throughout the game. Niigata won the contest, 2-0. Caraveo added 5 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Caraveo told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." So far this year, Caraveo has made 21 starts, tossed 174.2 innings, struck out 104 batters and walked 47.
