Ryo Hirayama took Nihon Yakyu Kyokai by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 24.

For his spectacular campaign, the Seki Katanakaji star has been named the 1914 Southern League Nobushige recipient.

"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the right fielder.

On the season he compiled a .350 batting average to go with a .397 on-base percentage. The native of Sendai, Japan also added 38 doubles, 6 triples, 5 home runs, 85 RBIs and 80 runs scored.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 16. Jesús Vázquez of the Yamatokoriyama Kingyo finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Eddie Duffy of the Kumamoto Kuma finished third.
