The Kagoshima Teitoku claimed a close win over the Seki Katanakaji, due in large part to Yugo Toguchi. The Kagoshima left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. The 4th-place Teitoku bumped their record to 39-35.

Tadataka Azuma dealt the Katanakaji a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Kagoshima leading 1-0, Azuma, who leads the SL in home runs with 5, hit a 2-1 slider for a run-scoring single.

"It was a solid team effort," said Azuma after the game.
