Preachers Even With Werewolves After Extra-Innings Win
The Abilene Preachers went the distance and then some at Werewolves Park to drag themselves back into a tie with the Los Lunas Werewolves.

It took 12 innings to settle Game 2 of the Interdivisional Series, but Abilene eventually took the 7-2 win behind the efforts of pitcher Eusebio Almonte. Almonte threw 9.1 innings of 8-hit ball to aid the Abilene cause. The clubs are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-5 series.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old left fielder Marco Río. Río had a bases-clearing double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Preachers ahead, 5-2. For the game, Río had 1 double and 1 single in 2 at-bats.

"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Almonte, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Abilene Grounds in Abilene.
