Torres Fashions Shutout Against Hormigueros
|
In a seemingly effortless performance, Esteban Torres of the San Juan Metropolitanos shot down the Hormigueros Romeros, 2-0, on 2 hits.
"Esteban was just locating so well and using his pitches," San Juan manager Gus Alberts said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Torres recorded 2 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Hormigueros manager Víctor Macías said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
In 35 starts this year, Torres has posted 14 wins while suffering 18 losses. He has pitched 295.1 innings, allowed 241 hits, struck out 67 and has a 2.35 ERA.
