For the next three days, a frenzied amalgamation of GMs, managers, free agents and media will congregate and discuss every wild rumor to circulate around the hot stove since the end of the playoffs. It's a time for ebb and flow, give and take. It's a time for trade talks and free agent talks as myriad options glow like embers. Grab one and you might kindle a fire under your club, but then that cuts both ways, doesn't it?
This is also a reminder for teams to set their ticket prices for next season. Prices cannot change after season tickets go on sale at the end of the Winter Meetings.

Varela and Robles Swapped

The Maricao Cafeteros addressed a concern today, coming to terms with the Cabo Rojo Combatientes on a trade that will send 21-year old minor league 1B Godofredo Varela from the Cafeteros to the Combatientes in exchange for 33-year old RHP Esteban Robles.
In his career, Robles has fashioned a 102-79 mark, 2.66 ERA and thrown 1669.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .250 lifetime against him and he has logged 486 career strikeouts.
