The skies opened up and the rain fell at Estadio de los Ilustres.

The Barranquitas Ilustres got a magnificent performance from pitcher Faustino Piñeda, who muffled the Mayaguez offense en route to a tight, 2-0 Ilustres win at Estadio de los Ilustres. Piñeda got the win, improving to 9-10. He gave up 5 hits and walked 5 over 8.1 innings. He allowed no runs.

Early in the game, designated hitter Telégono Sánchez had a 2-run double for Barranquitas. It was his 13th double of the season and put the Ilustres on top, 2-0.

Sánchez attributed the win to "making big pitches in big moments."
