The Cayey Cornupetas and Bayamon Lecheros played an entertaining game for La Plaza de Cayey patrons.

The inspired effort of Bayamon center fielder Guy Le Gall was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Cayey Cornupetas. Le Gall went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The first-place Cornupetas, at 79-63, lead the Liga Hostos Valle Costero by 7 games.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 4-4, slugging third baseman Romualdo Hernández won it for Cayey. With the bases loaded, Hernández hit a full count cutter from Jorge González for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 5-4 win.

"There's a lot in this game you can't control. Just take what the game gives you. I was just doing my best to help the team win," Hernández told the Cayey Herald.
