Gutiérrez Breezes to Shutout Victory
|
Víctor Gutiérrez led the San German Golondrinas to a shutout victory, 2-0, over the Humacao Milagrosos at Recinto Municipal Lola Rodríguez de Tió.
"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Gutiérrez recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
Gutiérrez yielded 4 hits and had 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in the standout performance.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Humacao manager Eduardo Argueta said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
This season, Gutiérrez has worked 301 innings with 130 strikeouts en route to a 13-19 record and a 2.69 ERA.
