Vejigantes Fall to Corsarios, 3-2
|
The Quebradillas Corsarios picked up a win at La Guarida, knocking off the Loiza Vejigantes, 3-2. Starting pitcher Felipe Rivera played a key role in the triumph. Rivera, now 15-16, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Primitivo Flores wrapped it up, recording his 18th save.
Étienne Umutesi's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for Quebradillas. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 2nd and 3rd and Quebradillas trailing 2-0, the catcher reached on an error by the SS, driving in 2 runs.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Rivera.
The win makes Quebradillas 56-88.
