Cabo Rojo Combatientes starter Luis Sánchez pitched a strong game against the Naguabo Navegadores at Parque de los Combatientes, leading the Combatientes to victory, 3-2. Sánchez, now 21-18, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. At 67-74, the Combatientes find themselves in second place in the Liga Betances Suroeste.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, 19-year old catcher Enrique Martínez won it for Cabo Rojo. With a runner on 2nd, Martínez hit a first pitch sinker from Karim Anbar for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Sánchez.
