Figueras Powers Macabeos Offense
|
In a close game at Campo de los Corsarios, the Trujillo Alto Macabeos edged the Quebradillas Corsarios, 5-4. Trujillo Alto designated hitter Serapión Figueras stood apart with his performance. He went 4 for 5 with a triple and 2 doubles, while adding 5 RBI. Tomás Rangel got credit for the win, improving to 16-13. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 9 innings. The Macabeos, at 72-71, sit in second place in the Liga Hostos Metro Este.
Had Figueras not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Figueras hit a run-scoring double. The Macabeos took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.
