Mota Fires No-Hitter
|
Is it better to be lucky or good?
After leading the Canovanas Chupacabras to victory, 5-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the Arecibo Lobos, Fernando Mota didn't have the answer.
"I don't know," Mota said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both."
On his big day at Estadio Municipal de Arecibo, Mota fanned 3 and had 4 walks. And it seemed that when the Lobos managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender.
"That's how you get a no-hitter," Mota said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck."
This year, Mota has gone 13-23 with an ERA of 4.14 and has 124 strikeouts in 272 innings.
