The Loiza Vejigantes picked up a win at Coliseo Hermógenes Cárdenas, knocking off the Rincon Ingenieros, 5-3, in 11 innings. Starting pitcher Ernesto Orozco played a key role in the triumph. Urso Ramírez, 4-5, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The first-place Vejigantes are 78-70.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Oscar Martínez? The 29-year old first baseman Martínez stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Loiza up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 6, including 1 double and 2 singles.
