Mogotes Suffer 4-3 Loss to Frios

Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Aibonito Frios got the win.
The Aibonito Frios did just enough to sneak past the Florida Mogotes, 4-3, at Estadio Nemesio Castillo. Aibonito pitcher Redmond Brier, in particular, had a standout performance. In 8.1 innings, Brier surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Pablo Lizárraga earned his 11th save, after closing out the game.
Martín Castro had a big run-scoring double for the Frios in the top of the sixth inning. With Aibonito leading 3-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Guillermo Cruz and swatted a double to left. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Frios ahead, 4-0.
"It was our day today," Castro told the Aibonito Bulletin. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
Aibonito sits in third place in the Liga Hostos Valle Costero at 64-85.
