Mercaderes Come Back Late to Clip Vejigantes
The Loiza Vejigantes could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Andy Coakley into a win. Instead, the Villalba Mercaderes prevailed, 3-2. Coakley threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The first-place Vejigantes dropped to 78-73.

Medardo Cervantes was the walk-off hero for Villalba. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mercaderes first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Cervantes said.
