Santa Isabel registered a win at Coliseo Gerardo Buitrago by beating the Hatillo Canarios, 6-2. Pitcher Juan Leyva was one reason why the Corceles triumphed. Leyva, now 22-13, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Corceles go to 66-84, putting them third in the Liga Betances Metro Sur.
Djoka Jevtic went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI for Santa Isabel. The three-time Acutísimo winner had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Herminio Vargas. It was his 110th hit of the season.
"I had a good feeling about this game even before we took the field," Jevtic, who is a three-time Acutísimo winner, told the Santa Isabel Times. "I'm glad it wasn't just gas."
