The Maunabo Artilleros beat the Yauco Corsos, 6-5, in part because of designated hitter José Cruz. He was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Maunabo reliever Avelino Saldívar, who led the LB in wins with 35 in 1909, was credited with the win. His record goes to 4-7. Guillermo Ramos took the loss for Yauco. The Artilleros go to 74-81, putting them third in the Liga Betances Sureste.

Cruz had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 knuckle curve from Guillermo Ramos, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Artilleros a 5-4 lead. It was the 16th double of the year for Cruz.

"Time to decompress after a tough win," said Cruz.
