Cafeteros Pull Off Thrilling 3-1 Win in Extras
|
The Maricao Cafeteros used a top-flight performance from Feliciano Marín, who finished 5th in the LB in innings pitched with 394.1 in 1904, to beat the Juncos Valencianos, 3-1, in 10 innings. Marín got the win, improving to 19-12. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The victory gives Maricao a record of 94-54.
Maricao used a timely hit from 28-year old left fielder Gastón González to get the win. The right fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cafeteros on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was huge.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Juncos manager Ángel Medina.
