Due in large part to shortstop Benigno Valdez, the Cayey Cornupetas sunk the Quebradillas Corsarios, 8-2. Valdez went 4 for 6 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Sarpedón Rodríguez earned the save, his 18th. The third-place Corsarios now sit at 60-97.

Rubén Velásquez was a prime factor in the win for the Cornupetas. In the bottom of the seventh with one out, the fan favorite hit a 2-run single. He was 2-6 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Cayey manager Tarquino Santa Cruz.
