Termales Come Back Late to Clip Marcianos
|
The Coamo Termales rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Urso Cabrera to a win, beating the Lajas Marcianos, 3-2, at Plaza Cósmica de Lajas. Cabrera, now 21-14, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 6, and allowing 2 runs. The second-place Termales now have a win-loss record of 73-83.
Coamo used the timely hitting of Garry Mallandain to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Termales on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Urso was really on it," said Coamo manager Melchor Herrera. "He's got a feel for playing with the hitter front-to-back, side-to-side."
