Starting pitcher Eugenio Navarro gave the Villalba Mercaderes a rock-solid effort. The Carolina, Puerto Rico native helped his team defeat the Yabucoa Dulceros, 1-0, at Estadio Teodosio Martínez. Villalba goes to 17-14.

Villalba used a well-timed hit by Medardo Cervantes to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mercaderes ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

Cervantes told a Villalba Daily News reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
