Win Lifts Jinetes to 89-63
|
Spirited fans greeted the Isabela Quesiteros for their clash with the Toa Baja Jinetes.
The Toa Baja Jinetes locked up a win at Estadio Municipal de Isabela, knocking off the Isabela Quesiteros, 5-4. On the mound for Toa Baja was right-hander Sarpedón Arévalo. He played a major role in the triumph. Arévalo yielded 4 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 5-9.
Toa Baja used a well-timed hit by Rómulo Figueroa to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Jinetes ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I thought we competed really well," said Jinetes manager Antonio Zambrano. "I thought the energy was really good."
The first-place Jinetes, at 89-63, now lead their division by 4 games.
