Wet weather did not postpone the Culebra-Ponce ballgame.

Culebra pitcher Tarquino Rivera had a large part in his team subduing the Ponce Senores, 3-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Ponce has now lost 5 straight.

Julio Martínez had a direct impact on the outcome. Martínez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Culebra up, 2-0.

"Tarquino was terrific -- better than terrific, really," said Culebra manager Florentino Almeida.
