In a low-scoring affair between the Barceloneta Marineros and the Guanica Amigos, pitcher José Villa was the difference between victory and defeat. The Barceloneta right-hander earned kudos in the 3-1 Marineros win. Villa, who finished 2nd in the LH in ERA with 1.69 in 1906, went the distance for Barceloneta. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. Guanica now owns a losing streak of 5 games.

A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Marineros sent 22-year-old first baseman Práxedes Arias to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a 2-run single, to put Barceloneta on top, 3-1.

"We're not really clicking on anything right now," said Guanica manager Ángel de la Torre.
