Vejigantes Rebuff Menestrales, 4-3
|
Loiza pitcher Rafael Arispe had a large part in his team beating the Las Piedras Menestrales, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Vejigantes, at 60-99, sit in third place in the Liga Hostos Metro Este.
Loiza shortstop Dwaine Sharples contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 110th hit of the season and put the Vejigantes ahead, 4-1.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Sharples.
