The Villalba Mercaderes had to overcome a fine effort from Toa Baja pitcher Próspero Sisneros to win, 4-3, at Estadio de Villalba. Sisneros went 8 innings and allowed 4 runs. The Mercaderes saw their win-loss record go to 69-94. At the same time, the Jinetes fell to 92-71.

Tied up with the Jinetes in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Mercaderes got a boost from shortstop Arthur Coates. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Coates saw a 2-1 cutter from Próspero Sisneros and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Villalba on top, 3-2.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Coates told a Villalba Today reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
