In a low-scoring contest between the Caguas Coquis and the Yabucoa Dulceros, 27-year old left-handed pitcher Ramón Ayala proved to be the difference. The Caguas left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Coquis win. Ayala, the winner, moves to 14-27. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. Jesús González finished to wrap up his 6th save.

Caguas used a timely hit from Severo Villareal to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Coquis ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

Villareal attributed the triumph to "a good team effort."

The first-place Dulceros dropped to 89-79.
