Martín Lifts Acropolitanos to 8-1 Triumph
|
No one was more impactful than Jesús Martín in the 8-1 Manati win over Jayuya. Martín, who is tied for 10th in the LH in triples with 18, was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Gerardo Rodríguez picked up the win, improving his season record to 17-6. He struck out 1 in 9 innings. With the win, the Acropolitanos have a record of 96-71.
Prisco Nambo had a big 2-run double for the Acropolitanos in the top of the fifth inning. With Manati leading 4-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Eduardo Aguirre and swatted a double to center. It was his 29th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Acropolitanos ahead, 6-1.
"We maximized our offense today," said Manati skipper Jake Seymour. "That makes everyone's life easier."
