Mayaguez picked up a win at Coliseo Atlético del Oeste, bumping off the Toa Baja Jinetes, 8-1. Pitcher Julián Loya was a major reason the Capitanes emerged victorious. Loya picked up the win for Mayaguez, going 8.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. The Capitanes win now puts them at 22-12.
William Jepson was vital to the Mayaguez win. He went 1-4. In the bottom of the sixth with two out, Jepson hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 3-1, in favor of the Capitanes.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Loya said.
