Ciales wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Serafín Castillón, falling to the Utuado Serranos, 3-2. Castillón threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Vidal Escalante earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 6 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. The loss drops the Guapetones to 3-11.

The Serranos beat the Guapetones in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Divino González produced in the top of the 12th. Batting against Jaime Martínez, González gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"This game will humble you at times and you've got to buck up and deal with it," said Ciales manager Martín Reyes.
