Culebra pitcher Miqueas Álvarez did his part in helping his team beat the Corozal Mofongueros, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Prudencio Flores earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record is now 3-3. The loss makes the Mofongueros 14-21.
José Quiles, who is a two-time All-Star, took Corozal hurler Humberto Díaz deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Tortugas on top, 4-2. In all, Quiles had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
