Chupacabras Defeated, 4-3, After Penuelas Rallies
|
The Penuelas Guiristas locked up a win at Campo de los Chupacabras, knocking off the Canovanas Chupacabras, 4-3. On the mound for Penuelas was left-hander Panagiotes Díaz. He played a major role in the triumph. Díaz picked up the win for Penuelas, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Scott Peterson recorded the save, his 3rd.
Penuelas used a timely hit from Roberto Núñez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Guiristas ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Canovanas manager Héctor Martínez. "But we decided not to take it."
The loss makes Canovanas 21-13.
